Marching Illini (2022 - Present)

Click on each image to expand and read more about it.

2023 ReliaQuest Bowl

This was a special event graphic created to announce the Marching Illini would be traveling to Tampa, FL for the ReliaQuest Bowl. All elements (hat, sand, water, etc.) are separate and were integrated to make one cohesive image.

2024 Citrus Bowl

This was a special event graphic created for the Marching Illini to announce they would be traveling to Orlando for the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl. The template was created from scratch, following the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl brand guidelines.

2023 "Friday" Graphic

This template was created from scratch and was used for the Friday schedule release for the 2023 season. It was created such that the text and image were easily changed, while maintaining the visual integrity.

2023 "Saturday" Graphic

Similar to the Friday schedule, the Saturday graphic is the same, but with orange and blue colors inverted. This consistent color identity would make it easier for fans to keep track of which schedule is which on a weekly basis.

Bands of the B1G Poster

This graphic was created to commemorate the addition of four new schools to the Big Ten Conference, and to welcome their respective marching bands.

March Madness Legacy (2022 - 2023)

March Madness Legacy is a game mod for NCAA Basketball 10, which sought to modernize the game with current rosters and team brandings. Many of the game's designs were created by myself, including the main logos and menu screens.

2022 Splash Screen

This menu screen was created for the 2022 release, which coincided with Mike Krzyzewski’s retirement. All splash screens centered the logo on the left side, so it would appear directly above the "Press Start" on screen element.

2022 Main Menu

This image was created for the main menu background, with the navigation items overlayed on the left side, hence the draw towards the right side, which was not covered by on screen elements.

2023 Tournament Splash Screen

This was created for the spring 2023 release, which featured the correct bracket for the college basketball tournament. This bracket-inspired splash screen was created using Affinity Photo and Designer.

2022-2023 Alternate Splash Screen

This splash screen was created for all standard releases of the mod, featuring separate foreground and background elements, and removing the text at the bottom of the trophy, making it usable for any year.

2023 Main Menu (with full logo)

This menu screen features the full legacy logo created by myself in Affinity Design. It is centered on the right side to avoid on screen elements. Shadows and reflections were created to look more realistic and three dimensional.

2023 Splash Screen

The 2023 release began a focus on icons in college basketball, with this including Pete Maravich (#23). This included recoloring a black and white image, and toned purple and gold accents to highlight his college, LSU.

Graduation Edits (2024)

The following are edits from a graduation shoot for no reason other than fun. Sam was a member of the club tennis team at Illinois and wanted photos to commemorate that. I came up with ideas he'll never forget (and yes, we took real photos, too).

This composite was a photo taken from above using a DSLR and an aerial photo from my DJI Mini 3.

This is a composite shot with Sam safely on land and and a template shot of the pond at the Japanese Gardens.

This is a composite shot of  Sam seated on bleachers overlaid onto a close up shot of a tennis ball.

Undergraduate Work - Marching Illini (2016)

The following are older projects during my early days playing with graphic design as a student. These would usually highlight special events happening during the year for the Marching Illini.

Canadian Brass Performance w/ Marching Illini

This graphic was made to commemorate Saturday, September 17th, 2016 when the Marching Illini hosted the Canadian Brass for a halftime performance.

This image utilized a duo-tone of orange and blue, which was popluar in Illinois' athletic branding at the time.

Twirler for a Day

On October 8th, 2016, the Marching Illini hosted a special "Twirler for a Day" event, inviting feature twirlers from across the state to join the band at halftime.

In addition to the duo-tone of orange and blue, the image subjects were isolated in full color to draw focus to them.

Most graphic design projects are created using Affinity Design and Affinity Photo. Both programs are comparable to Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
